Chelsea EPL keeper Cech has surgery

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech faces a race to be fit for the start of next English Premier League season after undergoing shoulder surgery on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old Czech Republic goalkeeper will be out for between eight and 10 weeks, Chelsea said on their website.

Cech dislocated his shoulder in the Champions League semi-final, first leg away to Atletico Madrid but returned to training before deciding to have the operation.

The next Premier League season starts on August 16.
