Striker stoops down to head ball over the line

A cheeky French footballer has pulled off the ultimate footballing insult, provoking his opponents into starting a melee in the process.

Stade Rennais striker Paul-Georges Ntep was left with an open goal after their rivals, US Concarneau, committed every player forward in search of an equaliser.

It’s what he did next that enraged his opponents.

Footage from the French Cup clash shows Ntep beat the goalkeeper to the long ball and stroll towards the open goal.

Instead of side-footing it into the net, the 23-year-old stops the ball with his foot and stoops down to knock the ball in with his head before gleefully running away as the US Concarneau goalkeeper takes a swing at him with his boot.

Officials had to separate the two teams as US Concarneau players took umbrage with Ntep over his arrogant finish.
