Champion Kramer bound for Gladbach

World champion Christoph Kramer is returning to Borussia Moenchengladbach on a five-year contract after passing a medical check, the Bundesliga club has announced.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder signed a deal with Gladbach until 2021, moving back to the team after one season with Bayer Leverkusen.

Reports said Gladbach paid a transfer fee of about 15 million euros ($A22.85 million) for Kramer, who had played the two previous seasons with Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Kramer was not nominated for Euro 2016 by German coach Joachim Loew.
