Champion German coach off to China soccer

Three-time Bundesliga champion coach Felix Magath has taken over as manager at Chinese club Shandong Luneng Taishan FC.

"I am very interested in the major awakening in Chinese football and will invest all of my energy in the club," the German veteran confirmed on Wednesday on his Facebook page.

The 62-year-old added he was looking forward to his interaction with the people in China.

Magath won Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich in 2005 and 2006 and VfL Wolfsburg in 2009.

He had been without a coaching job since being sacked in September 2014 by English second-tier team FC Fulham.
