Castelen vows to end goal drought

Western Sydney winger Romeo Castelen has predicted a goal feast is coming his way as he aims to break his season-long drought against Melbourne Victory on Saturday.

While the rest of his teammates are basking in the glory of a six-game winning streak, the former Dutch international has struggled in front of goals and is yet to find the back of the net this season.

He also apologised to teammates for butchering a host of simple chances against Central Coast two weeks ago and admitted he was frustrated with his finishing, but confident of getting off the mark soon.

"When you're in a team and we're defending well and then the chances you get, you want to put away," he said.

"Of course I want to score goals as well or set some up, (but) at the end of the day I'm getting in those positions. They will come."

A hamstring injury hampered Castelen's start to the season, but the former Feyenoord and Hamburg star has since started the past two matches and enjoying the extra width afforded to him by coach Tony Popovic.

"I have a little bit more freedom to come in as well and link up with the midfield players and the strikers," he said.

Teammate Scott Jamieson credited the Wanderers' winning run with a suddenly impenetrable defence that has now conceded just three goals in their past six matches.

"We're really starting to make it hard for teams to break through and get opportunities," he said.
