British football commentators cop a spray

Sports commentators are usually the envy of fans as they watch the world's biggest events from their prized grand stand suites.

But British football callers Adrian Chiles, Glenn Hoddle, Ian Wright and Lee Dixon gave ITV viewers a good laugh during a sprinkler mishap at England's 2016 European Cup qualifier against Switzerland.

The four left the cosy confines of the commentary box for a pre-match chat ahead of kick-off when the watering system suddenly flicked on, giving them a good old spray.

We don't know whether it was a deliberate prank by the home team's Basel ground staff or just unfortunate timing.

But showing true professionalism the team carried on, delivering their spiel in between ducks for cover, while the sprinklers continued delivering a rotational blast.

At least they got the last laugh, with England winning the match 2-0.
