Break dancing footballer provides assist

A Japanese midfielder has showed off his breakdancing skills in providing a brilliant assist during a match in the country’s second-tier competition.

Footage from the J2-League match between Tokyo Verdy and Cerezo Osaka shows Masaki Chugo make a run in behind the Osaka defence before a defender deflects the ball behind him.

Chugo slips and is forced to pull out a move more commonly seen in breakdancing battles as he improvises a left-footed cross from the ground.

That effort is also blocked by a defender but the determined Chugo doesn’t let that stop him either, as he finds a teammate with his right foot while still lying on the pitch.

The cross finds Alan Pinheiro who hammers the ball into the net at the near post.

The Chugo-inspired effort was Tokyo Verdy’s only goal in a 1-all draw.
