Berisha facing ban after touching official

Melbourne Victory's Besart Berisha could be in line for a suspension after his push on a fourth official was referred to the A-League tribunal.

Football Federation Australia's match review panel on Monday issued a statement saying the incident during Melbourne Victory's draw with Adelaide would be heard by the disciplinary and ethics committee.

The star Victory striker had made contact with fourth official Daniel Elder after Berisha had a heated duel with Adelaide defender Jordan Elsey.

"The MRP has determined that, on the basis of the evidence reviewed, Berisha has a case to answer whether he committed the offence of 'Unsporting conduct toward a match official'," an FFA statement read.

Berisha was issued a yellow card by referee Shaun Evans after the incident.

It is thought that Victory will argue that Elder initiated contact when the Berisha case is heard this week.

Last November former Adelaide coach Guillermo Amor was banned for two matches for touching fourth official Adam Fielding in a match against Perth Glory.
