Ballboy felled by miscued goal shot

Watching sport can sometimes be more dangerous than playing - especially if you take your eyes off the action.

A ballboy learned that lesson the hard way during a recent match in Norway when he was knocked to the ground after being struck in the head by a wayward shot at goal.

The youngster was standing behind goal and off the pitch during a match between Norweigian clubs Manglerud Star and Tromso Idrettslag when a Tromso player blasted a shot, which sailed wide of the mark.

The boy was standing beside another youngster, who appeared to see the incoming ball and recoiled in anticipation of being hit.

But with no time - or inclination - to warn his mate ,he could only watch on as the ball slammed into the pre-teen and sent him reeling to the ground.

The match was held up for several minutes while the Star keeper and Tromso striker rushed over and check if the boy was okay.

Fortunately, the youngster was unharmed, apart from a bruised ego, and returned to continue his duties, no doubt watching more carefully for the rest of the match, which was won by Star 3-1.
