Austin moves to Southampton from QPR

Striker Charlie Austin has moved to Premier League team Southampton from Queens Park Rangers in a deal reportedly worth Stg4million.

The 26-year-old scored 18 goals last season but QPR was still relegated from the top flight and was out of contract at the west London side in June.

Southampton confirmed Austin, who was called up by England for the first time at the end of last season, has agreed a four-and-half-year deal at the south-coast club.

Austin said: "As soon as Southampton showed an interest, that was the one club I wanted to go to."

Austin scored 48 goals in 89 appearances for QPR.
