English Premier League giants Arsenal are set play two matches in Sydney in 2017.

News Corp Australia reported that the 13 time EPL/first division winners would play Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers as part of their preparation for the 2017/18 season.

The matches are expected to take place in either late July or early August of 2017.

The Gunners, who have also won 12 FA Cups, have a number of high profile players on their books including Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere.

The north London based club are well in contention to win this season's title, sitting in second place on the ladder, just two points shy of surprise leaders Leicester City.

Arsenal last came to Sydney in 1977, where they played and lost 3-1 to an Australian team featuring John Kosmina.

The matches will be played at ANZ Stadium.
