Ajax star escapes horror tackle without injury

A Rapid Vienna player is fortunate to not have inflicted a potentially career-ending injury on an Ajax Amsterdam rival after a nightmare two-footed slide tackle in a Champions League qualifying match.

Stefan Schwab was immediately sent off in the 59th minute of the first leg tie after a shocking diving challenge on Jairo Riedewald.

Footage from the match shows the Vienna player dive in for the 50/50 ball with studs up and collect the diving Riedewald in the knees.

Fortunately the Ajax player was able to walk away while Schwab was given his marching orders.

Despite being reduced to 10 men for the remaining 30 minutes, Rapid Vienna managed to overturn a two-goal deficit to level the tie at 2-2 ahead of the second leg in Amsterdam.
