A-League leaders can get better: Popovic

Tony Popovic is adamant his Perth Glory pacesetters can further improve, saying their job is far from done in this A-League season.

The Glory edged closer to what appears an inevitable Premiers Plate with a resounding 2-0 away triumph against Adelaide United on Friday night.

Popovic's Perth have lost just once in 22 rounds but the coach says there's no internal talk of expecting to lift the plate and the championship trophy.

"We haven't spoken about expectation about lifting anything," Popovic said after goals from Diego Castro and Andy Keogh secured victory in Adelaide.

"We have spoken throughout the whole year about creating a possibility to win trophies - that is what we speak about all the time.

"Expectation? No. Creating possibilities? Yes.

"And we have clearly created that and clearly the opportunity is still there now so we continue with that message and we'll see where it takes us."

Popovic has given his players three days off, given their next fixture isn't until March 30 - and it's a doozy, against reigning champs Melbourne Victory.

And he was not remotely concerned about complacency creeping into his players amid their season of dominance.

"This group, the consistency is there, so there is no thought in my mind about complacency," Popovic said.

"When I see them train every day, there's no reason to even suggest it (complacency) to the players, to search for it, because it's not there."

In the meantime, he'll implore his players to continually improve - particularly on their finishing.

"There is always room for improvement," he said.

"You need to punish teams when you're on top and you get clear opportunities.

"And (against Adelaide) we had numerous chances in the box ... to really put the game away and we didn't."
