Australian footballer scores 70m wonder goal

Danny Choi is living his 15 minutes of fame.

The Blacktown City striker is the toast of Australian football after scoring a stunning 70m goal in extra time of his side’s 6-2 win over Sydney United in the FFA Cup.

Choi’s goal, which broke a 2-2 deadlock in extra time, quickly became the talk of Australian football.

The left foot blast, which was helped by the extra bounce that came from an artificial pitch, proved too much for United.

The goal brought back memories of the 50m shot David Beckham scored for Manchester United in 1996. Sadly for Choi, he isn’t expected to enjoy the career Becks did for many of the world’s biggest clubs.

In other first round FFA Cup games played on Wednesday night, Brisbane Strikers, Hume City and Edgeworth FC advanced.
