Missing a penalty can be a humiliating experience for a football player, but missing two in two minutes is something else.

That was the scenario facing Hull striker Abel Fernandez in his side’s 4-1 FA Cup fifth round loss to championship side Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Fernandez had missed several chances during the match and had an opportunity to make amends when Fulham’s Tomas Kalas fouled Andrew Robertson in the box in the 86th minute.

Hernandez stepped up to the spot and took the penalty only for it to be parried away by the Fulham goalkeeper.

Luckily for Hernandez, as he was trying to chase down the rebound of his first spot-kick he was brought down by ‘keeper Bettinelli.

Hernandez jumped at the chance to take the second penalty after some deliberation amongst teammates.

It was a perfect chance for him to redeem himself but the Uruguayan striker dug himself deeper into the hole he was already in.

Even though the second penalty was a much better shot it still wasn’t good enough to get past Bettinelli adding to Hull City’s embarrassing day.
