NFL player banned from wearing 9/11 tribute boots in season opener

All Avery Williamson wanted to do was pay tribute to those who died in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center by wearing a specially-made pair of boots in his team's NFL season opener.

But the Tennessee Titans linebacker had to back down from wearing the boots after the league officials told him he would be fined for violating the league's uniform policy if he wore the boots.

Williamson, a third year player, said he wouldn't wear the cleats as not to detract from the occasion.
