Patriots star Julian Edelman always confident about his Super Bowl miracle catch

Newly released footage of the miracle catch that set the New England Patriots on the road to Super Bowl glory shows that Julian Edelman knew all along that he had scooped the ball up.

With the Patriots needing a touchdown to send the game into extra time, Edelman nabbed a loose ball off the leg of an Atlanta Falcons player to gain some ground and keep the dream alive.

Edelman, who was mic’d up during the match, was quick to announce he had beat three Falcons players and secured the ball before it hit the ground.

''I caught it, I caught it, I caught it,’’ he proclaimed while still in a tangle of bodies.

Then, while a review of the catch was taking place, Edelman pleaded with opposition players to believe him.

''I caught it, crazy, I swear…. Watch.’’

After the match, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady echoed the sentiment of all NFL fans.

"It was one of the greatest catches I've ever seen," quarterback Tom Brady said. "I don't know how the hell he caught it."

The Patriots probably deserved something like this to go their way. Nine years ago in Super Bowl XLII, New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree produced his famous ‘’helmet catch’’ in an improbable win over the Patriots.
