A premature celebration from a pro-gamer at the world's biggest fighting game competition had commentators shocked at his costly failure.

Japanese e-sport player Woshige was playing a best-of-three match in the semifinals against Ozawa when he staged an epic comeback to stay alive and win, or so he thought.

With the overenthusiastic commentators hailing his genius, Woshige raised his arms in triumph and ran around on stage in front of a screaming crowd only to remember that there was a decisive round left to play.

Cameras at the event show the shocked competitor rush back to his controller but it’s too late, with Ozawa taking full advantage and demolishing his unmanned rival video game character flawlessly.

Commentators can be heard screaming at the shock result as the actual victor celebrates on stage.

Ozawa went on to win the tournament.
