Dutch thrash Aussie men's baseball side

Australia's baseball team has been thrashed 9-0 by the Netherlands at the Honkbalweek Haarlem tournament.

It is the second loss in as many days to the Dutch side, after they beat Australia 7-2 on Wednesday.

The Aussies were hurt by an early injury to pitcher Dushan Ruzic, who left the field with a sore shoulder.

Australian team manager Jon Deeble said his side failed to capitalise on some decent positions.

"We've had two tough losses but we're not going to lay down," he said.

"We swung the bats well, Deeble said.

"We just couldn't find the gaps. The contact was great but they just weren't dropping."

Australia will play Curacao on Saturday for a spot in the championship game at the tournament.
