Race cyclist fumes after motorbike crash

Slovakian rider Peter Sagan is considering legal action after being knocked off his bike by a support motorcyclist and suffering race ending injuries during the Vuelta a Espana tour event in Spain.

Competing in stage eight, Sagan was clipped by the motorbike and thrown onto the road as the support rider weaved through the peloton.

Enraged by the incident, he berated the rider and kicked his motorbike before also putting the boot into his own bike.

The 25-year-old managed to finish the stage but was forced to pull out of the race ahead of stage nine after suffering first and second degree burns on the left side of his body, from the hip to the lower leg.

Sagan, who on stage three had ended a two-year drought without a grand-tour win, slammed the motorcyclist and said he was considering legal action.

"Unfortunately, it isn’t the first time such an incident happens," said Sagan.

"Even if motorbikes are forced to go through a group of riders, they should do it very carefully and not recklessly. In my opinion, motorbike drivers don’t take the safety of the riders in consideration seriously."
