Cyclist gets gets the brush from trophy girl

Talk about awkward.

Italian racer Vincenzo Nibali was left scratching his head after being denied a victory kiss from a trophy girl following his Tour de France stage win.

Celebrating his yellow leader presentation after the 201km York to Sheffield stage, Nibali was all ready for his reward from the dark haired beauty.

But as the footage show, he cops an embarrassing and very public rebuff when she turns her head - possibly to collect something from a tour official - just as he moves in for the lip planter.

The Italian is then left scratching his head ruefully, in an incident just as painful to his ego as the agony of a road fall.

Ouch.
