Bhuchanan claims world title

Two time BMX Olympian, Caroline Buchanan, has claimed her seventh world title overnight at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Val Di Sole in Italy.

After a crash in the final of the BMX race at the Rio Olympics, Buchanan's emotional low has been alleviated by taking out the world title in Four Cross making her the first person to claim four titles in the sport.

"I was hungry but I was the most nervous I had ever been. I was starting to question myself," Buchanan said.

"I qualified in third and I just thought whatever happens... I just gave it everything and came out with a win."

Buchanan said her confidence had been shaken by her Olympic failure.

"You just have to put those adversities aside and get back on the bike. It's a massive challenge."

German rider, Franziska Meyer claimed second while defending champion, Dutchwoman Annika Bertains finished third.
