Aussie cycling staffer has coronavirus

An Adelaide-based Cycling Australia staffer has contracted the coronavirus, prompting the governing body to close its offices and training areas.

CA has confirmed one of its staff members, who returned to Adelaide on March 4 after attending the track cycling world championships in Berlin, has tested positive for COVID-19.

CA says the individual had minimal contact with fellow staff and athletes after returning to Australia but the Adelaide Super-drome offices and training areas have been closed as a precautionary measure.

Cyclists and staff have been instructed to remain at home.

The venue is being cleaned and disinfected, with hope that training will be possible on the weekend.

"The health and wellbeing of our athletes, staff and the broader public is our highest priority and that's why we have responded quickly and thoroughly," , team'performance director Simon Jones said in a statement.

"Our thoughts are with our team member as he continues to receive treatment and medical advice.

"Senior staff, including our team doctor, remain in regular communication to manage this situation and provide all the support required to athletes and staff in what are difficult times for all people all around the world."
