Warner sets about winning a third Allan Border Medal

Winning a second Allan Border Medal appears to have made David Warner more determined than ever.

Warner has cracked another century but fallen just short of the highest score by an Australian in one-day cricket.

Warner's 179 from 127 balls against Pakistan at Adelaide Oval on Thursday is the explosive left-hander's sixth century from his past 11 ODI innings.

His knock was just six runs shy of the highest ODI score by an Australian - Shane Watson's 185 not out in 2011 against Bangladesh.

Warner has 13 ODI centuries overall - Ricky Ponting (29), Mark Waugh (18) and Adam Gilchrist (16) are the only Australians to have scored more.

His latest ton came from just 78 balls in the Australia Day fixture as he smacked Pakistan's bowlers to all parts of Adelaide Oval.

Warner had a reprieve on the first ball of the innings when he flashed at a drive for a thick edge - Pakistan captain Azhar Ali, diving high and to his left, just managed to get fingertips on the opportunity.

Warner had another let-off when on 130 - he skied a ball to deep mid-on but Mohammad Amir spilt the relatively simple chance.

The 27-year-old Warner - who earlier this week collected his second consecutive Allan Border Medal - was otherwise in command, striking 19 fours and five sixes before being dismissed.
