Richie Day takes over the SCG as Australia dominate

A push to make Day Two of the Sydney Test ''Richie Day'' received a timely push along at the SCG on Wednesday.

Looking resplendent in their silver hair, and cream/white/off-white/ivory/beige jackets, ''The Richies'' celebrated their eighth year of adding a little something to the SCG.

Steve Blacker, one of the organisers of Richie Day, said the push to formalise Benaud day was gaining speed.

The Richies love a good singalong.

''We are getting good support from many of the locals, and from afar to get it named 'Day Two, Richie Day','' he said.

''We understand it is the pink Test in Sydney, but we think there is room for a splash of cream to go with that.''

While a few beers and a good singalong are part of a day at the cricket for The Richies, group member Michael Hennessy said the group wanted to celebrate Benaud respectfully.

''We really want to honour Richie in the right way,'' he said.  ''I think we are doing a really good job each year at the SCG Test on day two.''

Prior to the day's play, The Richies unveiled a new song honouring Australian paceman Mitchell Starc.
