Ashes referee and Australian cricket legend David Boon tests positive for COVID-19

Ashes match referee and Australian cricket legend David Boon has tested positive for COVID-19.

Cricket Australia broke the news in a media release this evening, after Boon returned a positive PCR test.

Boon was due to fly to Sydney to officiate the fourth Test but he will instead remain in Melbourne, with the hope of being back on duty for the fifth Test in Hobart.

Steve Bernard will take over as Ashes match referee for the SCG game.

All players, staff, and travelling family members from both camps have been undergoing daily tests.
