Jack Wildermuth six nearly hits young girl during Queensland Bulls win over Tasmania at JLT Cup

A young cricket fan was lucky to escape injury after a flying six nearly hit her during the JLT Cup game between Queensland and Tasmania at Blundstone Arena.

Jack Wildermuth went for a mighty strike while at the crease during the Bulls win over Tasmania with the ball clearing the boundary line with ease.

Little did he know the ball was heading into an area where a little girl was standing.

The toddler was oblivious to the trajectory of the ball and was minding her own business when it landed eerily close to her, just missing her head.

Fortunately for everybody at the ground the shot missed her but it does bring into focus safety issues surrounding balls clearing the fence.

A two-year-old girl was struck in the face by a foul ball at a recent MLB game prompting calls for safety netting to be brought in.

Sure it’s a different game but cricket fans face similar issues.

For the record, leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson claimed career-best one-day figures to help Queensland to an 83-run victory over Tassie.
