Cricket: Ul-Haq muscles his way to Test century

Pakistani batsman Misbah Ul-Haq showed he still has the muscle to hold off Father Time after performing a bizarre celebration following his historic ton in England.

The captain led from the front on day one of the First Test after scoring a classy unbeaten century at Lord's.

The milestone score saw Ul-Haq, who at the age of 42 years and 47 days, enter the record books as the oldest player to score a ton since Patsy Hendren in 1934.

But not content for the scoreboard to show off his strength, Ul-Haq got down all fours and gave the crowd a series of push-up just for good measure.

Ul-Haq said at the close of the play that the unique celebration was a "promise" to the people who helped ready him for the Test series – the Pakistani army.

"That was my promise to the army guys," Ul-Haq said.

"We did a camp in Abbottabad before the skill camp in Lahore.

"We used to do an honour code every time, we just stepped into the ground and did 10 push-ups.

"And I promised them, if ever I score a hundred, I will definitely do that to remind you that we were there."
