Pucovski launches legal action over alleged mishandling of concussion

Former Australian cricket prodigy Will Pucovski has launched legal action against Brighton Grammar School, alleging the prestigious Melbourne private school didn’t meet its duty of care after he suffered his first concussion.
One of the great young batting hopes in Australian cricket was forced to retire in April last year at the age of 27, on the back of 13 documented concussions.

According to The Age, Pucovski took legal action against Brighton Grammar School in the Victorian Supreme Court on Tuesday.
The statement of claim alleges the school didn’t fulfil its duty of care after he suffered a concussion during a football training session in 2014.
He was allegedly knocked unconscious by an accidental knee to the head at football training.
He has alleged in the past that he returned to football very soon after that incident, before suffering months of subsequent concussion symptoms.
High-profile class action lawyer and former Western Bulldogs president Peter Gordon is representing Pucovski.
The gun opening batter retired from all forms of cricket on the advice of Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria medical experts.
He played one Test for Australia against India at the SCG in January 2021, scoring a half-century in the first innings.
From 35 first-class matches he made 2350 runs, including a top score of 255 not out, at an average of 45.19.
