Theory emerges behind epic Adelaide Oval lighting fail during second Test
An explanation has emerged as to why the Adelaide Oval lights went out twice in the space of an over on the first night of the second Test between Australia and India on Friday.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the Aussies requested the lights above the training nets be flicked on in order for potential night-watchmen to have some throwdowns.
When the computer-operated settings were changed, the four tall tower lights went out instead.

Conspiracy theorists jumped on the chance to blame the issue on the electricity supply, for which South Australia relies heavily on renewable energy.
LED lighting was installed at the ground as part of a $5 million upgrade in December 2023.
Had the issue happened with the old incandescent lights, players would likely have been forced from the ground as the lights gradually returned to full power.
The LED lighting meant they reached full power immediately, and the two delays amounted to barely two minutes combined.
