Who's to blame for this clanger?

It’s not often that any one player can be held solely responsible for a goal, but Akhisar goalkeeper Fatih Öztürk challenged that notion this week with an absolute clanger of an own goal.

Tearing out into no man’s land, Öztürk found himself in jeopardy when Fenerbache striker Emmanuel Eminike’s outstretched leg managed to lob the hapless keeper.

Throwing a stray hand at Eminike’s attempt, the ball was set on a slow but sure path toward the Akhisar goal as Öztürk clambered around to chase down the time-bomb.

The final piece of the calamitous puzzle was set in place when upon reaching the ball in time, a miscommunication with his own defender resulted in Öztürk sending the nearly stationary ball home, into his own net, with his thigh.

He then proceeded to run around his box in hysterics much to the disdain of his own team.

Fenerbache continued on to close out the game 3-1 with their rivals still struggling to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
