'Can you cut that out?': Conor McGregor's coach lets slip on major secret

Conor McGregor's coach John Kavanagh may have accidentally let slip on a major secret regarding the stance of the Irish fighter ahead of UFC 257.

With McGregor preparing for his bout with Dustin Poirier this Sunday, Kavanagh appeared on ESPN to breakdown the upcoming fight as the former featherweight and lightweight champion gets set to make his return following a 12-month hiatus.

Kavanagh was discussing the predictions he and McGregor had made between themselves before things turned awkward just after 20 minutes into the interview.

"Myself and Conor kind of joked the part you look forward to — it's kind of weird — is that the fight will be over, we'll be back on the super yacht, we'll be heading to Dubai, and we'll all be sitting around staring at our phones watching the highlights back," Kavanagh told ESPN's Ariel Helwani.

"He'll [McGregor] be pulling it apart, but also enjoying it — enjoying the techniques, the sequences.

"Let's see if some of the predictions we made amongst ourselves about what will be the damaging shots [come true]."

All of a sudden, Kavanagh revealed McGregor, who throughout his entire career has fought out of a southpaw stance, was training now training in orthodox.

"Will training mostly in orthodox stance for this whole camp have paid off?" he asked.

Realising the mistake, Kavanagh quickly added: "Take that away, take that away. Can you cut that out?"

"Yes," Helwani responded.

With the awkward moment remaining in the clip, whether Kavanagh's comments were serious or potentially a case of mind games won't be revealed until both fighters take to the octagon this weekend.
