'I have no idea': Dana White forced to 'apologise' after controversial UFC 310 split decision

UFC boss Dana White has blown up over a split decision that saw Alexander Volkov robbed of victory against Ciryl Gane.

In an undercard heavyweight bout on Sunday afternoon (AEDT), the two veterans went toe-to-toe for three rounds before it went to the judges' scorecards.

Many believed that Volkov had done enough to win, leading to a stunned reaction inside the octagon when Gane was announced as the winner.

The judges scored it 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 in favour of the Frenchman, who stormed out of the cage immediately after the result was announced.

"It was a bullshit decision, for sure," Volkov said post-fight.

"I don't know what we're going to do with the decision, I'm absolutely sure that I won the fight. I did much more than Gane in all the fight. I do not know who scored this fight with him, who are the judges, how they decide this.

"I don't see any damage from him to me and I don't understand why he won the fight.

"I saw the eyes of his team, and they didn't expect this. They didn't expect the decision, and he was upset, so my respect to Ciryl Gane."

It's a major blow for Volkov, who sits inside the top-five in the heavyweight rankings and a victory over Gane would have put him right back into title contention.

His thoughts on the fight were echoed by the company's leader, who consoled Volkov in the moments after the decision and said he would "try to make it right".

"You got f----d," White said repeatedly.

"I don't know what we'll do, but we will try to make it right. I have no idea.

"The whole f-----g arena thought he won the fight. They f----d that one up real bad.

"I will talk to you in a little while, I apologise."
