College runner makes incredible comeback to beat Olympian

Here’s an effort worth a mention.

During the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships, the Harvard women’s 4x400m relay team had a run to remember.

Entering the final leg of the race, Harvard trailed  Columbia by 2.8 seconds with about 30 metres to go.

Harvard’s Gabby Thomas had to produce the run of her life to oust 2016 Ghana Olympian Akua Obeng-Akrofi.

However, Thomas wasn’t fazed by the daunting task in front of her and slowly gained ground on Obeng-Akrofi.

The last 100 metres proved to be a tight tussle between the two, with Thomas surging through to edge the Olympian to the finish line by just .04 seconds to win the relay.

It was Thomas’ fourth race of the day, winning the women’s 100m dash with a time of 11.27, taking out the 4x100m relay team and setting a meet record with her 200m win.
