Coach endures embarrassing slip of the tongue

An American university football coach was left with nowhere to hide after he endured an embarrassing slip of the tongue at his post-match press conference.

An elated Arkansas Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema fronted the US media after his team scored a miraculous 53-52 overtime win against the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday night (US time).

But it was clear from one embarrassing comment that the 54-year-old wanted to be celebrating with someone else – namely his wife.

"I'm just looking forward to hopping on the wife," the straight-faced Bielma told the room of journalist before quickly realising his embarrassing gaffe.

"Hopping on a plane … hopping on a plane with my wife.

"Can't believe I just said that."

However, the red-faced Bielema, who has a head coaching record of 83-43, was quick to see the funny side of his mistake and joined in with the roars of laughter from the reporters.
