Professional tennis player Caroline Wozniacki has taken sports fans on a revealing behind the scenes tour of this year's Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

The world No.19 stripped down and was then painted up as she became a living piece of art for the famous magazine.

Starting at 11pm on the eve of the shoot, Wozniacki was fitted with the model swimsuit before a team of artists worked through the night to replicate it on her naked body.

And 15 hours later, the 25-year-old was finally ready to face the cameras.

"I'm totally naked, but when I look in the mirror it's the weirdest thing – I feel like I have plenty of clothes on," Wozniacki said.

Wozniacki joined MMA champion Ronda Rousey and American skier Lindsey Vonn in baring all bar a thin layer of body paint for the shoot.

Vonn encapsulated the work ethic needed to become a world champion after posting a video of her painted-self working out during the shoot.
