Canelo Alvarez revels at lavish after-party following victory over Gennady Golovkin

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez celebrated his blockbuster victory over Gennady Golovkin with a lavish after-party in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

The Mexican partied throughout the night at the exclusive XS nightclub after claiming the middleweight title by a controversial majority decision.

After 12 brutal rounds Alvarez was greeted with bikini-clad woman brandishing congratulatory signs, endless alcohol and world famous DJ Marshmallow to keep the tunes pumping well into the night.

Alvarez was accompanied by an unknown woman with whom, TMZ reports, the champ was intimate with throughout the night.

However, Alvarez’s most recent victory has polarised many boxing fans.

Of the 18 official media outlets scoring the fight 10 scored in favour of Golovkin, seven a draw and only one for the Mexican despite doing away with the Kazak at T-Mobile Arena by majority decision.

Alvarez’s six-month ban for testing positive for banned substance clenbuterol also left a bad taste in many fans’ mouths.

Alvarez got out of the blocks fast, scoring early in the first five rounds with lightning combinations.

The pacing of the fight soon turned however as the experienced Golovkin began to read the Mexican, countering with his trademark power that saw that almost saw and end to the fight in the ninth round.

The loss was Golovkin’s first in his sterling career while Alvarez maintained his record of 53-1 after his loss to Floyd Mayweather in 2013.
