Photographer snaps picture at perfect moment to create 'ghost' effect

Is this a ghost? A glitch in the matrix perhaps? Sadly not, it is something far less sinister.

This incredible photo, taken by Dallas Morning News photographer Jae Lee at a Texas high school football game between Evangel Christian Academy and Allen High School, is at first look a real head-scratcher.

A scan of the frame reveals what has taken place (No.52 in the white shirt has simply lost his helmet), but a first glimpse raises many questions.

It would be great if the answer was there is actually a ghost underneath that helmet blocking the quarterback - although what use a ghost would have for a helmet is still up for debate.

But alas, that is not the case and Lee’s photography is the only amazing thing on display here.
