Boxer Sabri Sediri was left red-faced on the canvas after an embarrassing end to his bout against Sam Maxwell in Leicester, England.

Sediri was ahead on the scorecard in the final round and landed a left hook that made Maxwell stumble briefly.

Sensing victory was near, Sediri mocked Maxwell and danced in the ring in the 10th round before the pair resumed throwing punches.

Then the Frenchman copped a surprise with mere seconds left in the bout.

Maxwell suddenly landed a flush, overhand right which instantly knocked out Sediri and sent him flying back on the canvas.

"Where did that come from? I can hardly believe what I've seen! An astonishing turnaround," the stunned British commentator said.

"He's stopped it, he's stopped it! Sam Maxwell turns that fight around.

"Where oh where did that come from?!"

Maxwell stood over Sediri and screamed with joy after the Frenchman failed to recover in time to fight on, and just like that, Maxwell took the WBO European super lightweight title.

"I think he switched off a bit, and I took my chance," Maxwell told ESPN.

"I knew it was close. I knew I needed a big last round."
