EXCLUSIVE: Gallen advisor Pete Mitrevski responds to shock fight audio

Paul Gallen's advisor Pete Mitrevski says vision and audio released of his clash with referee John Cauchi in the aftermath of Gallen's loss to Huni don't tell the full story.

In previously unheard audio, Mitrevski can be heard arguing with Cauchi after he chose to stop the fight in the tenth round. While Gallen questioned the referee's decision, microphones picked up Mitrevski and Cauchi exchanging words.

Mitrevski: "You're a joke. You're a joke. You're a joke. You're a joke. I said it before."

Cauchi: "F--- off! F---ing idiot. You're an idiot."

Mitrevski: "We were never going to win the fight. You're a joke."

Cauchi: "What? Let him get hurt?"

Mitrevski: "You're a joke. You're incompetent."

Cauchi: "F---ing idiot. You're an idiot."

Mitrevski: "We were never going to win the fight. We were never going to win the fight. Never. But the whole fight..."

Cauchi: "I don't want to talk to you. Get out..."

Mitrevski: "Don't touch me. I'll f---ing knock your head [off]."

Cauchi: "Try it. Try it."

Speaking to Wide World of Sports, Mitrevski said parts of his argument with Cauchi were left out.

"First of all you can't see what's happening," he told WWOS. "He pushed me and I told him not to touch me. He was telling us to shut up in the corner all night. I spoke to Jeff Fenech and he agrees John Cauchi is too aggressive.

"He's incompetent. We were copping low blows all night. He said he wants to look after the fighter but he never pulled those up. Look this is not about Huni. He won fair and square but the referee is incompetent."

Mitrevski confirmed that when he found out that Cauchi was going to be the referee the day before the fight, he lobbied the NSW Combat Sports Authority to change the appointment.

"Yeah I didn't want him as the referee I've seen what he's done in the past. The way he handled Zerafa and Horn was ridiculous. I just thought we needed a better referee."
