British boxer Anthony Joshua has taken a shot at rival Tyson Fury saying Fury is not in condition to face him for his title.

Joshua, who is the current WBA-IBF-WBO world heavyweight champion, remains open to fighting the 29-year-old next year, but took shots at Fury’s training regime.

“He’s not in condition. He’s still two stones over to when he fought [Wladimir] Klitschko,” Joshua told reporters.

“When he’s a couple of pounds over, half a stone over, then I’ll say he’s at his peak again.

“What does he do, two sessions a day? I would rather do two boxing sessions an day. Why would you do one boxing session and one run?

“Are you trying to be a part-time boxer and part-time track runner?

“Get in the gym. Focus on your gym work. The best fighters spent more time in the gym than anywhere else.”

Joshua, who holds a 21-0 record with 20 KOs, defends his belts against Russian challenger Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium in September, and has a US$15 million deal on the table to fight WBC champion Deontay Wilder in April next year.

However, after Wilder’s unhappiness at the terms offered for the bout, Joshua is happy to shift his attention to a bout against Fury, who returned after two and a half years in the wilderness last month.

Fury weighed in at 125kg for his bout against Sefer Seferi in June and is due to fight again on August 18.
