Boat owner wants home run baseball back
A boat owner who had a home run baseball taken from his vessel has demanded the valuable souvenir be returned to him.
Pittsburgh Pirates baseman Pedro Manuel Álvarez Jr smashed the ball into the boat moored in the Allegheny River when he cleared the stands at PNC Park against Minnesota.
Footage then captured a man and woman stop by the boat before the man climbs in and retrieves the ball.
However, the man who owns the boat, Ryan Stachelek, is demanding the ball be returned to him after watching the whole episode unfold while at dinner.
"It would be really nice if we could get that ball back," Stachelek told local TV station WTAE. "I don’t know what we would need to do, but it would pretty special if we could get that back."
"So, if you're out there watching, we want it back."
However, Stachelek can forget any assistance from local authorities with Pittsburgh police admitting "no crime had been committed".
"The passer by only grabbed the ball and nothing that belonged to Stachelek," WTAE reported. "When balls are hit outside of the park it becomes a 'free-for-all'."
