Internet piles on Bill Belichick after Tom Brady reaches another Super Bowl without him
Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time and Bill Belichick is the NFL's greatest ever coach.
But the unwinnable debate over which man was more responsible for the New England Patriots' incredible dynasty reignited after Brady booked himself a ticket to a 10th Super Bowl on Monday.
With the 43-year-old Brady under centre, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will become the first team to play in a Super Bowl on home field.
It is a remarkable feat in Brady's first year with the Buccaneers after winning six Super Bowls under Belichick's guidance with the Patriots.
New England missed the playoffs with Brady no longer calling the shots, prompting this intriguing tweet from former Patriots safety James Ihedigbo.
Belichick's record is unimpeachable, with 31 career post-season wins.
But the internet is undefeated and the pile on was savage as Brady steered the Buccaneers past Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
Brady's 20 year career in New England ended when he signed with the Buccaneers as a free agent in March.
That followed endless speculation about a falling out with Belichick, a notoriously hard taskmaster.
It's fair to say his new mentor is pretty happy to have him.
"The belief he gave everybody in this organisation that it could be done,'' said Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians, "it only took one man.''
