A former US university basketball star has soared highest at the NBA draft combine after clearing an amazing 112cm in the vertical leap.

Pat Connaughton, who attended the famed the University of Notre Dame, posted the second highest leap in the history of the combine as he looked to impress watching scouts.

The 196cm tall forward set the mark on the second day of the combine.

Former professional player Kenny Gregory holds the record for the highest vertical leap after hitting 116cm in 2001.
