Atlanta Hawks guard Dennis Schroder took no risks with his dental care after losing a tooth during a mid-match collision, with the NBA star delicately placing it in his sock before playing out the game.

With the Hawks leading the Portland Trailblazers 79-58 in the final quarter, Schroder took the ball into the key to extend their lead but came unstuck when his legs became tangled with a rival defender .

The collision sent Schroder flying, with the 22-year-old slamming face-first into another Portland defender's knee  and the impact dislodging one of his front teeth.

Footage of the incident captured the moment the tooth dropped out of his mouth.

But determined to ease his dentistry bill and play on, the Hawks star simply grabbed the chomper from the floorboards and slipped it into his sock before rising to his feet.

Schroder then made his way to the bench, briefly, before re-entering the play minutes later as Atlanta went on to secure 106-97 victory.
