NBA star gifts car to single mum

Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook has witnessed one of the most joyous celebrations of his career after deciding to re-gift a car to a single mother of two.

The Thunder star, whose net worth is estimated to be more than $10 million, won a vehicle after being judged Most Valuable Player of a recent NBA All-Star game.Rather than see it sit idle, he decided to give the car to someone in need and was put in touch with 19-year-old mother of two, Kerstin Gonzales, who almost immediately broke down in tears."When he showed me the keys, I was like, 'This is real,' said Gonzales, whose car had recently stopped working, forcing her to borrow her friends' vehicles to ferry her children back and forth from school."It's so touching and so amazing knowing that there are people out there willing to help the ones that are in need."Westbrook's gesture has been hailed by thousands around the world, with a shared sentiment that he's helped put life in perspective."There were definitely tears of joy and I could tell some tears of hard work and all the different things she’s been through in her life," Westbrook told NBA.com."Today was a stepping stone in showing her that everything is going to be all right."
