NBA star an AFL goal sneak in the making

NBA superstar Tim Duncan is a quick learner – especially when it comes to Australian sports.

The San Antonio Spurs veteran was given a lesson on how to play AFL by Aussie teammate Patty Mills at the franchise's training facility.

The five-time NBA champion only needed two bites of the cherry before he had the Sherrin on a string.

In a video posted on Instagram, the 39-year-old Duncan horribly shanks his first kick, prompting Mills to offer some sage-like advice.

Showing the skills of an experienced goal sneak, Duncan bananas the ball along the ground and, seemingly, on a path destined to split the makeshift goals.

But in one final and harsh lesson, the Sherrin is snatched up at the last second by a covering defender, or in this case, a Spurs staffer.
