Klay Thompson shatters Stephen Curry's three-point record in spectacular shooting display

Klay Thompson has broken teammate Stephen Curry's NBA record for most three-pointers in a game with 14 during a brilliant offensive performance by the Golden State Warriors.

Thompson set the mark with just under five minutes remaining in the third quarter on Monday night against the Chicago Bulls to cap off a remarkable shooting night which saw him pour in 52 points in just 27 minutes of action.

He was mobbed by teammates as the players headed to the sideline for a timeout in a game the Warriors went on to win 149-124.

Thompson broke the record set by Curry who drained 13 triples against New Orleans on November 11, 2016.

The Warriors scored 92 points in the first half - the most ever by a road team and the second most of all time behind the Phoenix Suns, who had 107 in the first half against the Denver Nuggets back in 1990.

Golden State's 42-point half-time lead was the fourth-largest half-time lead in history and the largest lead by a road team.

Thompson finished 14 of 24 from beyond the arc. He held up three fingers with each hand after his record-breaking 3-ball dropped through the net with 4:53 remaining in the third quarter.

Despite his outstanding shooting effort, Thompson's father, former Lakers star Mychal Thompson was left relatively unimpressed by his son's efficiency.

However, the rest of the NBA word was left in awe by the stunning eruption from Thompson who prior to this game was mired in a shooting slump from downtown.
