NBA superstar Curry denied monster three-pointer

NBA superstar Stephen Curry has added a peculiar honour to his record-breaking season - the NBA's best three-pointer, that wasn't.

Curry, who in February broke his own record for the most three-pointers in a regular season, appeared to have added to his tally against San Antonio yesterday with a miracle shot from the other end of the court.

His Warriors had just taken possession after a missed shot by Spurs and with just seconds left on the clock in the third quarter, the ball was quickly directed into the hands of their three-point machine.

And Curry didn't disappoint.

The 28-year-old, who also holds the NBA record for the most three-pointers in a game (16), let fly with a shot in his team's defensive half that thundered into the background and through the ring for what seemed a miracle three-pointer.

The problem was that the buzzer, just, beat him.

It would have given the Warriors a handy four point lead going into the final term, though they still managed to triumph 92-86.

The win was Golden State's record-equalling 72nd victory of the NBA season, improving to 72-9 to match the league record for regular-season wins set by the 72-10 Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan in 1995-96.

The Warriors can break the record with a victory on Wednesday, when they conclude the regular-season against the Memphis Grizzlies at home in Oakland.
