Accidental Aron Baynes fall leaves NBA star Stephen Curry's left hand broken

An inadvertent fall from Australia's Aron Baynes has left two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry with a broken left hand as the Golden State Warriors' season from hell continued.

The incident occurred in the third quarter of the Phoenix Suns' clash with the Warriors, when Baynes attempted to take a charge on Curry as the guard drove to the basket.

After the two players collided, Baynes fell backwards and landed on Curry's left hand, with scans later on confirming that he had broken the second metacarpal in his hand.

Following the game, a 121-110 win for the Suns, Warriors coach Steve Kerr revealed that the Aussie big man had visited the Warriors locker room and said he was not to blame.

"Aron Baynes came up after the game and wanted to know how was Steph was doing," Kerr told reporters.

"He felt really bad. Just a random basketball play. Stuff happens."

The incident compounded what has fast turned into a season from hell for the Warriors after their run of five consecutive NBA Finals appearances.

Already without Klay Thompson who is still recovering from the torn ACL he sustained in last year's Finals as well as Kevin Durant, who departed for Brooklyn, the Warriors have looked a shell of their dominant selves.

Kerr's men had already lost two games by double-digits with Curry in the line-up and were well on their way to a third loss in four games, with Baynes' Suns taking a 43-14 lead after one quarter.

In the absence of former No.1 pick Deandre Ayton who is serving a 25-game suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy, Baynes continued his spectacular form.

The 32-year-old veteran even blocked one of Curry's signature three-point shots in the first quarter en-route to a dominant night of 24 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in just 28 minutes of action.

Curry's injury also caused a ripple effect around the league, with several of his fellow players sending their well-wishes.
